Research project: My research project inquires into the relation between photography and text in Scandinavia around the mid 19th century, by studying books and other published editions juxtaposing photographic images and printed texts. In these phototexts, I am especially interested in issues regarding attention and distraction, examining the various strategies aiming to control the viewer’s attention before the abundant images of the still-new photographic medium.
